What a week it has been.
Stacey has had a "spinal headache" from the epidural needle going too deep and putting a hole in her dura. This lowers the pressure in her spinal column and causes a migrane to end all migraines. They did a procedure on Sunday to inject 20 CCs of her own blood into her epidural space and this is supposed to seal the hole with a blood clot.
It worked and was supposed to make her feel better immediately. It did and we got to come home from the hospital on a beatiful sunny Mother's Day. What a treat. The flowering trees of our lovely little town were all in bloom and the sunshine made all the colors pop. A maternity ward is a pretty happy place to be on Mother's Day! So is my house with Stacey's folks there to share the joy!
Unfortuntely the next morning Stacey woke up with the headache again. They warned that it could last 10 days untreated and rarely, the clot will dislodge. Stace couldn't even sit up in bed without tears coming to her eyes. So back to the hospital we went. More injections into her spine. The good news was she felt great afterward and we were extra careful to keep her laying down and to avoid bending or twisting.
12 hours later, and the skull crusher was back. Stace couldn't bear another procedure so we got some prescription headache meds and she lay as flat as possible all day. By yesterday she was sick of that so we went back for a third blood patch. We are so weary of hospitals.
The good news is that Meena is an angel. She sleeps a lot and eats well. She feeds at 11pm, again around 3am where I change her diaper and again around 6 or 7am. This results in me getting up once in the night. I can handle this.
So far today Stacey feels good. She is staying prone, but when she does get up for the bathroom or to eat, she doesn't have a headache. My mother in law has been here all week and I don't know what we would have done between trips to the hospital and just gettting into a routine. She has showed us many little tricks to make it all easier. She has to go home this weekend, but by then I think we will be in good shape.
Life is good. We love this little Pinto Bean so much it hurts.

Wow Stacey! Those headaches sound just awful. :( I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't able to enjoy Meena's first days home the way you'd hoped. I'm glad, though, that you're feeling better now. :)
